Fathers and Families introduces itself to Aiken

On Ash Wednesday, we had an "official soft kickoff" for our new fatherhood program in Aiken.

About 30 local leaders in business, government and public and private social service agencies gathered on the campus of USC Aiken to learn about our ministry, as we prepare to begin operations in the community.

This opportunity to expand to Aiken is the result of a partnership between the Center, the Midlands Fatherhood Coalition and the Department of Social Services Integrated Child Support Services Division. Katie Morgan, director of ICSS, and champion for the partnership and Aiken expansion, led off the meeting.

We showed our video. Pat Littlejohn and Richard Barr spoke. Charles Brown presented a PowerPoint explaining our ministry, what we do and why we do it.

Our audience was attentive, interested and engaged, and made us feel  most welcome. Some related deeply personal reasons why they cared about our mission.

It was a great beginning for our efforts to help fathers and families in the Aiken area.
