Center Recognized for Its Achievement in Promoting Father Engagement at Annual Conference

On Saturday, August 12, the Center was recognized for its achievement in promoting father engagement at the 2017 South Carolina Fatherhood and Male Achievement Conference held in Columbia, SC. The event brought together more than five hundred fathers, men, boys and their families. Attendees participated in sessions to discuss topics ranging from money management to dating and healthy relationships.

SCCFF Program Manager Marc Himes hosted a session on young fathers where he shared information on the Center’s mission to combat fatherlessness and presented statistics on the ways father absence negatively impacts children and families. Himes also debuted "Facing Early Fatherhood", a documentary on the lives of young fathers and the challenges that come with parenting at an early age. This project was produced by the Center with support from South Carolina Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy.

This is the Center's third year participating in the conference since its inception in 2014.

SCCFF Program Manager Marc Himes accepts the award on behalf of the Center from Patrick Patterson, founder of  Global Partners for and Families, which hosts the SC Fatherhood and Male Achievement Conference.
