Aflac Awards Grant to Support Men's Health

The Center has been awarded a $2,500 grant from Aflac. The funds will be used for continuation of the “Access to Healthcare” initiative in Richland and Lexington counties.

“Access to Healthcare” is a comprehensive healthcare initiative of the South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families that provides healthcare and health education to low-income, non-custodial fathers.
Midlands Fatherhood Coalition serves fathers in several counties in the Midlands including Richland and Lexington counties. A high percentage of fathers enrolled in these programs suffer from multiple health problems, have poor eating habits and are without health insurance. These issues pose as barriers to employment and providing for their children.

The Center supports fatherhood programs to reach the goal of improving health conditions of fathers so that they can secure employment and contribute financially and emotionally to their children and communities. The health curriculum is offered twice per year and important health screenings are offered in the spring and fall.

The Center thanks Aflac for its support of our mission to build strong fathers and families.
