Father Focus: Alan Shropshire

Alan Shropshire was between jobs and needed help with pursuing a career change. He enrolled in Lancaster Fatherhood Project after learning about the program through Carolina Community Actions, Inc., one of LFP’s partnering agencies.  Shropshire’s primary goals were to improve his employment options and to provide for his wife and children. He attended LFP’s Job Readiness Boot Camp. During one of the sessions, he learned about grants from Carolina Community Actions, Inc. that would pay for classes he needed to get his commercial drivers license. He worked with his intervention specialist at LFP to submit his application. He was awarded the grant and went on to obtain his license. Alan began his new career with a trucking company in February 2017. He credits the fatherhood program with helping him get into his desired career and still attends sessions at LFP when he’s not on the road.

Alan Shropshire has a new career in the trucking industry thanks to the Lancaster Fatherhood Project.
