Upstate Dads to Get Greater Access to Health Care
Dawn Pender, nurse practitioner for the SC Center for Fathers and Families, will be helping Dads in Spartanburg get greater access to health care, just as she has been doing at three other sites that already receive the benefits of the Center's Access to Men's Healthcare component.
Dawn will now make monthly visits to Spartanburg to give limited direct health care, health screenings, health education using the Center's curriculum, and engagement of potential health partners in the area to assist our mostly non-Medicaid eligible and non-insured, poverty population.
This will bridge participants to much-needed medical, mental health, vision, and dental care so they can look forward to a healthier future.
Dawn was approved to provide this new service to Spartanburg participants by the state medical board on Feb. 4.
