The Joy of Fatherhood Month Proclamations

2024 Gov Proclamation

The mission of the South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families is to give SC dads a lift up in their lives so that they have all the resources they need to become great dads. Through educational programs, a jobs bootcamp, health screenings, and services that help them overcome common barriers to good parenting, our statewide teams work with thousands of dads each year to show them the "joy of fatherhood."

Earlier in the Spring, we contacted all 46 counties in the state to update them on our work, provide them with fatherhood materials, and ask them to consider making June "The Joy of Fatherhood Month" in their locales. Additionally, we reached out to Governor McMaster and Columbia Mayor Rickenmann with similar proclamations. We are happy to report that many responded with a generous spirit.

To date, some 15 counties have issued proclamations, with many county councils inviting us to attend presentation ceremonies at their June meetings. We have posted many of these events on our social media channels.

Governor Henry McMaster graciously signed our proclamation (image attached) and delivered it in the first week of June.

If you follow us on social media, you can keep up-to-date on the various counties who offered public support through these presentations.

We are thrilled about the convergence of attention for fathers and the work of our fatherhood initiative around the state, especially in the month of Father's Day. However, we are hopeful that these municipalities will have greater awareness of the needs of fathers in their communities and will recognize that the Center, and our fatherhood partners, can help meet those needs and build stronger families in the long run.

Thank you for your commitment to our work. We would be honored by your generous donation to continue our mission to help dads succeed and discover the real Joy of Fatherhood. Please donate here. (Choose "The Joy of Fatherhood Month" campaign on the donation page.)

Thank you for your heartfelt support!
